nieces, fundraisers, and a roxy.

i feel like every monday all i want to do is crawl back in bed and all i want to blog about is my weekend, because let's face it, we always wish we could go back and that it would have lasted longer.

friday night my sister and all 4 nieces came to have a sleepover at my house. i took them over to lake junaluska to feed the ducks and get some energy out on the playground. we all enjoyed ourselves until we had to run for cover from the snapping geese. holy smokes, those things are vicious!!

saturday we went to the indoor pool/small water park for the day. we attempted to get some sun at one of the public outdoor pools, but the lingering storm clouds weren't allowing it. we had more fun on the water slides, anyways.

that night i went out to listen to a friend's band play at this place downtown called the gateway club. they were preforming to raise money for the local high school baseball team. it was a win, win situation. dancing AND raising money? i'm there.

sunday i snuggled up with ms. roxy. the cutest little cockapoo this side of the mississippi!! the rooms and i are puppy-sitting her for the week! i may just have to pretend like she's mine and not give her back.

how was your weekend lovelies?

castles, weddings, and babies. oh my!

what. a. weekend.
i swear i think it was one of the best ones yet, but then again i find myself saying that far too often these days. not a bad thing though, am i right?
friday i spent my night watching movies, painting nails, and downright relaxing. it was fabulous and much needed after my hellacious work week!! plus, i needed a night to be lazy and prepare myself for the rest of the weekend.

saturday was my sorority sister jessica's wedding up at castle ladyhawke... which is a legit castle right past where we all went to college, at western carolina university.
i cannot explain how gorgeous this place was in person and how much fun we all had- so i will just let the pictures do all of the talking. after the wedding we ended up stopping at our favorite old stomping grounds... o'malley's pub and then rabbit ridge apartments. seeing old (and new) sisters is always a great time. the bond i share with these ladies is incredible. we can go months, even years, without seeing each other and then reunite like no time has passed at all!! enjoy...
beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
a few of my sisters that were there!!
i'm addicted to babies. i always find them. and this little aiden was no exception!
sunday i met up with my family at camp living water in bryson city, nc. it borders an area called deep creek, which is a river that people from all over come to tube down. let me just say, it was a blast!! the camp area had volley ball courts, soccer fields, a pool, a picnic area, a zipline, and a rope tower. the kids had more fun than they could have ever imagined... and my nieces are definitely more adventurous than i am! we are already planning to spend an entire weekend here in september!
that would be my 8 yr old niece lexi at the top. yep, braver than her 24 yr old aunt.
what i did most of the day- played with baby sophia.
meet layla, my niece. she's a mess, like her aunt.

hope everyone had a great weekend as well!

dear jessica and jake:
YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED TOMORROW!!! IN A CASTLE!!! AND I'M GOING!!! i'm just a little excited for you guys. and for celebrating in a real life castle. maybe a little more excited about the castle part... kidddddding!!! maybe. see you tomorrow, beauties!!

dear honey boo boo child:
oh.my.word. people like you all really exist??? i just can't get over it. but for some odd reason- i just can't get enough. pretty sure my roommate and i have quoted your "dolla makes me holla honey boo boo" a million times. don't be surprised when we show up to one of your pageants as your biggest fans... covered in mud, eating cheese balls, and playing with our bellies.
we just wanna fit in.

dear naked grape:
you are my new favorite wine. and you're on sale at ingles? $6 a bottle? i think i should try all of you.
via- my phone.

dear domestication:
thank you for gracing us with your present in our household last night. we were somewhat proud of ourselves. maybe you want to stay a while?
via- my phone. pretend like you've never seen me in glasses. thanks.

the term: break a leg... just got real.

so i definitely woke up 30 minutes earlier than normal to watch manteo run the 4x400 in the olympics... but then my cable provider decided not to show the olympics the ONLY time i actually intended to watch them. go figure. so i then proceeded to live stream it to my phone, which lead to me having to download some olympics app, create an account, and then wait for it to "buffer" (i've always hated that term btw). i did get to curl back up in bed though while i waited, which was nice.
i finally got to see his race, which was awesome! USA finished alongside the bahamas with a matched time of 2:58.87. talk about God speed, people.

despite the fact that manteo killed it this morning... our NC boy won't be running in tomorrow's finals after all. he apparently broke his left fibula bone halfway through this mornings race and ran the last 200m with a broken leg. yes, you read that right... a. broken. leg.

YOU GO MANTEO!!!
he is without a doubt a hero in my book.
you can read the article on his race and about his leg, here...
in which, USA Track and Field Chief Executive Officer Max Siegel, said: ''Manteo has become an inspiration and a hero for his team-mates. Without his courage and determination to finish, Team USA would not be at the starting line in the final.''
which still gives me cold chills just thinking about. i am so proud to call him a fellow WCU Catamount/Alumni and North Carolinian... and i cannot wait to see what more he brings in the future. this man has talent, drive, faith, and a world full of support!!

#faithfocusfinish all the way babyyy!

BUNS RUNNNN!!!!!!!

so the olympics are here, they've been here for a little while now.
have i been watching them?
welllllllll..... sort of.
if sitting at the bar having a vodka/tonic while the olympics play over head counts... then yes, yes i have been watching them. it's actually quite entertaining not being able to hear the announcers and having background bar music playing instead. and the old men commenting on how old the 10 year old gymnasts really are is pretty funny, or gross, whatever.

i will however, be completely focused on them tomorrow morning. getting my 'Merica on and all. i'm even waking up 30 minutes early for work to watch this event.
why you ask?
because of manteo mitchell of course.

i've mentioned manteo a couple of times on le' blog and have encouraged everyone to keep their eye out for him... well here's your chance!
manteo will be running the 4x400 relay tomorrow morning at 6:35am EST. i know i know, it's early. but so worth it to see him run!!

for those of you who don't know... i went to western carolina university with manteo and he grew up in shelby, nc which is about 2 hours from me. home boy rightcheeeere!
not only is he an incredible athelete but he is also one of the most inspiring and faith filled people i know. he has a genuine heart and truly deserves the attention the olympics are bringing him! faith. focus. finish. is his motto!!
and who can resist some good buns, anyways?
booty out,
j.

this week, oh how pinteresting.

so far this week i have...
-changed clothes in the parking lot of work because i was running late.
-thought i got into the wrong car... then realized my key only opens my car, not the other jeep liberty exactly like mine in the parking lot.
-made it to work in 20 minutes because i overslept.
-bought a stripper work out video, and used it... and then saw that my neighbor was sitting on his porch and all of my windows were open. you're welcome old man.
-woke up at 3am thinking i had the stomach bug. but didn't THANK GOD!
-had my teeth cleaned (well, as of 1pm today).
...and it's only wednesday. can we say BRING ON THE WEEKEND?!!!?

in other news- today we're linking up for a little dose of oh how pinteresting with miss michelle! we all know we're just as obsessed with pinterest as the next person and sharing our weekly faves with our bloggie friends makes it that much better!! especially when they are entirely too random for your own good. so let's get started...
