picture hijackin'.

i tried and tried and trieeeed to get the photo booth pictures from the wedding this past weekend on my computer...
but stupid copyright laws wouldn't let me.
rules schmules.
they were so fun that it's a shame you can't see them all!!

i was, however, able to get a few uploaded from the print outs they gave us saturday night...
so that's what you're getting today.
and yes, they're somewhat hijacked, so that's why they're of SUCH good quality.
HA!

i can't get over how much fun we had at this wedding.
who wants to get married next??
i'm an awesome wedding guest, i promise!
and the 5 more we have lined up just isn't enough...

charlotte wedding weekend.

have you ever had one of those weekends that was just so good that
you couldn't believe it was already over?
that was this weekend for me.

M and i traveled to charlotte for the wedding of one of my sorority sisters.
our first road trip together and our first wedding of the season...
let's just say we started it off the right way.

we got into town late friday night but still somehow managed to meet
the bride, groom, and some friends uptown.

saturday was jam packed with shopping and snuggling with tori's dog maddie.
M fell in love. but i was okay with it- she is pretty cute.

of course the rest of our evening was spent in celebration mode.
the wedding was supposed to be on the rooftop of a hotel in uptown charlotte.
but the torrential downpours throughout the day forced it inside.
it was still absolutely gorgeous though and everyone had a BLAST!!!

the bride and groom- courtesy of ruby peoples photography.

sunday was our busiest day, believe it or not.
M has been in search of a motorcycle for the last week or so.
and on our way to charlotte friday night he spent most of the drive
looking up motorcycles in the area on craigslist.
just in case he said.
go figure he finds one.
THE one.

so we leave charlotte at noon sunday. drive to gastonia.
M falls in complete and utter love. i might have too.
we drive to hendersonville to get his 4runner and a trailer from his coworker.
we drive BACK to gastonia.
pay the guy. load up the bike.
and finallyyy make it home to western NC.
we spent a total of 9 hours in the car sunday, but it was worth it.
i mean... look at that grin!!
now i'm exhausted.
and still wondering how my weekend went by so fast!

i have really fun photo booth pictures to share as well...
but not until i can figure out how to get them off the company's website...

road trip letters.

dear M:
we're taking our first road trip together this weekend- eeeeek!!!
i am so excited i can't contain myself.
i hope you're okay with my frequent pee stops, my candy overload, and my annoying throwback tunes.
at least it's only a 3 hour drive. it could be much worse.
it's gonna be fun, promise.

dear queen city:
my dear, sweet sweet charlotte.
it's been since august that i last visited.
so to say we're overdue is an understatement.

dear steph and ben:
it's officially your wedding weekend!!!
ahhhh!!!
brayden might just be the cutest ring bearer- in the world.
congratulations, you two!

dear alllll my sexy DZ sisters:
things might get a little out of hand this weekend.
i mean, that's what happens when we all get together, right?
plus- it's a wedding celebration on saturday... so that's double trouble.

dear work:
you stressed me out more than ever yesterday.
not even kidding.
and i deal with a lot of crazy stuff as a social worker.
basically my thoughts in a nutshell after my meeting yesterday:
rules are dumb, budget cuts are dumb,
and learning that you have to fight to keep your program going for the next year is dumb.

dear lake j:
thanks for saving my nerves last night.
being able to take a run was just what i needed after my stressful day.
especially because i hadn't worked out all week. oops.

happy weekend, doll faces!

throwback thursday # i don't know.

because i really have lost count of which TBT post i'm on.
and i'm too lazy to go back through and count...
so just link up. it's fun.

1. follow your lovely hosts:

2. write a post about your past
this can be anything from last week's horrible date, to prom 2004, to an embarrassing journal entry.

YOU CHOOSE!

3. grab our button or link back to us, link up below,
and don't forget to hop around!

last week while i talked about the high school days of prom and how much i missed everything about that time...
well... most everything that is.
it made me realize that i legit had it made back then.

the biggest part of my high school career was spent in silver glitter on top of red and white.
with teeny tiny little bloomers on, bows in my hair, and screaming at the top of my lungs.
i looked forward to around the clock practices, late nights of banner making, camps in panama city,
running my ass off, being around my best friends 24/7, and of course friday nights on the sidelines.
yeah- i miss cheering.
high school, not so much, but cheering? yes.

i'll take that tiny little body back, please and thank you.
and yes- that would be jennifer herself in that last picture.
you're welcome.

4.24.2013

27 dresses... well, sort of.

so last night my little brother posted this picture to my facebook wall.
 with a caption that said...
"hey, sis, they made a movie about you!!"

uhhhhh... (crickets)
thanks??
i mean, i guess i do love katherine heigl.

and then i got to thinking... this move really IS somewhat similar to my current life.
okay, so no, i haven't been in 27 weddings... but my guest status number is getting wayyy up there.
and i DO for some unknown reason have to buy a new dress for each wedding i attend.
so yeah, he did have something to go on.

last year- 9 weddings total.
this year- 5 weddings... so far.
the first of which is THIS weekend.

but that's what happens when you're 25 and a sorority alumna.
you go to weddings, and baby showers, and bridal parties, and yada yada yada.
it's normal.
maybe it's not so normal when you're not married yourself, but hey, that's okay.
i'm pretty darn happy right where i'm at.
no rushing into anything for this girl.

and besides... I met my current, amazing, boyfriend at one of those 9 weddings last year. so to say im a wedding fan is an understatement.

however, if someone wanted to throw me a fake bachelorette party and wedding shower i wouldn't complain.
have you seen the loot they bring in to those things?
heavens to betsy- it's ridiculous.
totally kidding by the way. kind of.

oh, and ps- it's ady's birthday today!!
go show her some love... and read about her bar dancing, napkin throwing weekend.
happy hump day!

4.23.2013

to do lists and i need to stop complaining.

today i have a little confession for you...

i am completely and utterly obsessed with to do lists.
seriously. i kid you not.

i have...
one at work for my tasks for the day.
one at my house for all of the housework to be done.
and one on my phone for all of my errands to run.
this is a weekly daily thing for me as well.

i try to think that they make me feel better about everything that i have to do.
mainly because i can cross off each thing as i do it and i actually feel like i'm accomplishing something.
but in reality i think they just give me more anxiety than anything.

i came to this realization this morning as i was making yet another list.
i about cried while thinking about everything i have to do before my road trip friday.
(yes, road trip. i am excited.)
oil changed, nails done, pick up dry cleaning, find a dress for saturday's wedding
(that's a big deal when you live 30 minutes from the nearest mall), do laundry, clean the house...
oh, and pack.
all while working 8am-5pm every day.
it's a lot.
but i didn't realize it was so much until i started to write it all down.
but if i didn't write it down i'm likely to forget something.
which reminds me, i need to make a list of what to pack...

i know i should stop complaining about to do lists.
being busy and having the ability to do all of these things is really such a blessing.
but it's not until you start complaining that you realize that you honestly have no reason to in the first place.
it just helps to put it all into perspective, really.

i am more blessed than anything that i am able to make a list, run errands on my own, take road trips,
go shopping, and hold a full time job doing something i love.
so today, instead of dreading my list of things to do...
i'm going to cherish it.
and know that there are people out there way less fortunate than myself.
that cannot do the things i can.
and i need to remember that.

besides...
not everyone gets to make home visits on pretty days like yesterday instead of sitting in an office.
which is exactly what i am fixing to do again today.

and there you have my social work side showing it's face on le'blog.

4.22.2013

weekend shenanies.

friday was a good day.
not only was it the start to my weekend.
but i also came home to a nice little surprise from UPS on my doorstep.

my HANA flat iron and all of the goodies from Mosikko.
i'm just a tad bit obsessed, ya'll.
blog review on this little baby coming soon!!

then matt and i went out for dinner and just 'cause celebrations.
this might be my new favorite picture by the way.

saturday your girl slept innnn.
went to a wedding shower for some friends.
and then headed to the ol' hometown for some family time.

i can't even tell you how amazing it was to see my nieces.
those girls complete me.
and that wine glass may or may not have fit half a bottle in it.
not that i know from experience or anything.

sunday my jennifer and i finally got some catch up time.
it was much needed.

and now.
now i'm working.
and already planning for this weekend.

4.19.2013

more prayers and some letters.

i hope everyone takes a minute this morning to think of boston and the lockdown.
and then think of texas.
and then think of our world. think of our country. think of our families and our friends.
there is so much going on right now that it's hard to think straight.
it's hard to live our lives like we always have- excited for the future, hopeful, carefree.
we want to wake up in the morning and continue on with our normal routine... but we can't.
because our minds are so consumed with what could go wrong today.
what bad thing is going to happen next.
and that's why we have to turn to the one constant thing in our life.
the one reminder that everything is going to be okay and that we need not worry about anything...
because it's all out of our control.
and that reminder is God. and His promises. and His unending love for us.

with that said...
dear God.
protect your children. watch over us in these hard and scary times.
and help us to remember that nothing going on in this world is beyond your control.

dear greys anatomy and nashville.
your shows make me happy and keep my weeknights from being boring.
so stop playing re-runs already.
i need some deacon and jackson in my life, sheesh.

dear sunshine.
showing your face this weekend is highly recommended.
my pale skin got it's first dose of vitamin D last week and is dying for more!
plus, the rain we're having today kinda sucks.

dear body.
i know you weren't a natural born runner.
but let's try and pick up the pace- it's bikini season.
whaddya say?

happy weekend, lovelies!
xoxo

throwback thursday: prom babies.

tomorrow is friday.
today is thursday.
you're welcome for that 2nd grade lesson.
but that means it's time for another round of throwback thursday.
so let's just get right to it.

  1. follow your lovely costs and co hosts

2. write a post about your past
this can be anything from last week's horrible date, to prom 2004, to an embarrassing journal entry.

3. grab our button or link back to us, link up below,
and don't forget to hop around!

one thing i miss about high school is prom.
especially when april rolls around and i see all of the amazing dresses
that my left butt cheek wouldn't fit into hanging in the stores.
i wanna go back to that. plain and simple.
yes, the small butt AND the high school days of no worries.
what do you say we all just get our hair, makeup, and nails done... buy a sexy dress... rent a limo...
and go dancing for one night every year? i think that sounds perfect.

this was my senior prom in 2006.
that little girl had a lot going on that spring and summer.
graduation, an engagement (that's a story for another day), moving out of my parents,
starting college, breaking off said engagement (that's also a story for another day),
and finally discovering highlights- thank goodness.
i love looking back at old pictures and not only reminiscing on memories,
but also realizing that it is those memories that made me the person that i am.
and i would not change a single thing about my past (granted, there are some things better off forgotten),
but i know that i wouldn't want to be anywhere other than where i currently am in life right now.
and that's a good feeling.

happy friday eve!

4.17.2013

wednesday weekend.

whaddya know, it's already wednesday around these parts.
i'm okay with that. it means my weekend is right around the corner.
but it also means i'm a day late & a dollar short for my weekend recap.
oh well.

this past friday we hosted a work baby shower for kim's little grayson.
hootie hoot style, none the less.
tears were shed. baby was spoiled.
it was a good one.

and then, and then, and then...

1. dinner and drinks with best friend.
she's celebrating her 1 year wedding anniversary this week while cruising around the bahamas.
lucky ladyyyy. love you though and congratulations!!
2. i discovered i was officially old when i pulled out my own coozie at the bar this weekend.
3. i got to hang out with lots of fun pups- including riley. who stole my passenger seat.

i also...
got my first sunburn of the year. ouch.
spent time with boyfriend. yay!
and cleaned out my closet. this is a big deal.

happy hump day!

4.16.2013

boston.

it's times like these that i am reminded how truly precious this life is.
how we never know what is going to happen.
and how we should never, ever take anything or anyone for granted.
we hear this sort of thing all of the time, but do we really take it to heart?
it saddens me to think that we don't sometimes.

my heart breaks for boston...
and for those even closer to our homes and hearts that were there yesterday.
i heard this morning that a former co worker was on the sidelines of the marathon with his family.
a family that loves racing, but just weren't participating in this particular one.
until that moment for some reason i didn't think of the fact that it's not just boston that needs prayer.
it's everyone.
it's our best friend's sister's brother in law's cousin.
it's our neighbor. our co worker.
we all knew someone there yesterday one way or the other.
it's just that small of a world.
and we are just that connected as human beings.

i pray that we start showing more and more love in this world.
and we start turning to God for answers and comfort.
because he is our Refuge and our strength.
always.

you might be lucky enough for my weekend recap tomorrow.
that's a big might.
xoxo.

spring to do list.

a few weeks ago little miss katie came up with her spring to do list.
which inspired me to do the same now that mother nature is cooperating,
and we finallyyyy have some nice weather.

yes i laid out after work yesterday, and yes it was fabulous.

really this should be known as the list of things i want to do,
but will probably never get done.
all with the best of intentions, right?
whatevs.

-get rid of unworn clothing.
seriously. this one really needs to happen. i have so many clothes that never get worn it's a shame.
and i honestly don't have the closet space for all of them- which is an even bigger shame.

-run the lake more instead of the treadmill.
because this view is ten times better anyways.

-plant flowers around the house.
and somehow keep them alive.
last year our house was more of a funeral home for flowers than anything else.
even the ones that only needed watering once a week.
don't judge me.

-get a new driver's license.
this isn't really spring related.
but my license still says that i'm under 21 (i'm now 25) even though it's 2 years from expiring,
and i have chubby cheeks and brown hair in my picture.
i get questioned all of the time.

-be outside as much as possible.
this includes but is not limited to:
grilling out, porch sitting, sunbathing, lake strolls, boat adventures, etc.

-visit my ava grace.
i haven't seen her since thanksgiving and my heart is breaking for it.
i think an outside play date is in order.

-just be happy.
because that's really what matters.

what are some of your spring to do's?
