the browse.

can we just talk about how amaze balls the daily tay is.
i mean, seriously.
first she goes and makes us all pee our pants on the reg with her ridiculous sense of humor.
then she turns around and surprises us with the best idea in blog land.
you all know what i'm talking about- the browse blog.
and if you don't know what i'm talking about, then i suggest you crawl out from under your blog rock and change that.
like now.

The Browse

especially because yours truly was FEATURED on the browse yesterday.
no lie. i was.
i was kind of, sort of freaking out when i got taylor's email.

this blog has become such an amazing outlet.
and even though it rarely gets serious around here... when it does, it's because it's something very important to me.
so to have so many people show their love and support after yesterday's post seriously made my day.
which was just what i needed.
thank you again, beautiful ladies.
xoxo.

just some thoughts.

do you ever have one of those days where you really just don't know how to feel?
you're on the verge of tears because you find yourself feeling disappointed in others.
when you shouldn't have let yourself put faith in them a second time to start with.
you want to cry, you want to get mad, and you want to ask them why they do the things that they do.
you want to know why they act like they want to be a part of your life when they really don't know what they want.
all you crave is honesty, truth, and understanding.

and then you realize that they really aren't worth your time, or your tears.
you remind yourself that if they truly cared for you, they would show it. they would be with you.
and you would have no doubts, fears, or questions to ask.
and you hold on to that as tight as you can.
you stay strong for yourself and you guard the shit out of your own heart.

you have to keep reminding yourself that you are beautiful, you are smart, and you have the world ahead of you. you try to focus on the good things that you have going for you and you tell yourself that someone would be lucky as hell to have you.
you surround yourself with your best friends and a bottle of wine.
you pray without ceasing for God's will to be done.
you hit the gym and you hit it hard.
that's the only thing that keeps you going.

have you ever felt like that?
because i have.
and today is no exception.

for some reason i just felt the need to get this out.
take it for what it's worth and know that whatever you are feeling on any given day...
someone else is feeling it too. someone else relates to you. and you are not alone.

monday.

does anyone else find themselves feeling obligated in the blogging world to talk about their weekend come monday morning?
i mean... i feel like if i don't sit here and catch everyone up then my weekend really didn't happen. weird. i know.
so of course you're going to hear about what i did the last 2 days.
because i want to make sure you know that i did in fact have a weekend.

friday was kind of a whirl wind.
an unexpected dinner date lead me to realize i should probably write a book about my life.
my dating life to be more exact.
i'm not gonna go into too many details, but i think it would be a best seller.
trust me on that one.

saturday i don't think i got out of bed until 2.
yes, 2 in the afternoon.
it was quite glorious if i do say so myself.
and it prepared me for a night out in asheville that night.
these are the most fun people i know. i kid you not.

sunday i don't know what came over the roommate and i but we seriously cleaned our house from top to bottom.
i guess it's the fact that we're so ready for spring we decided to get a jump start on our spring cleaning.

anddd finding a legit chicken farm in our yard with an insane amount of chicken droppings (poop) might have encouraged us to get things cleaned up outside... and then we just continued on inside.

we're not exactly thrilled with the neighbor's chickens at this point
and neither is cordelia.

we may have some serious chicken meat in our freezer if they don't find their way back to their home soon.
 blahhh, whatever.

here's to watching teen mom 2 tonight!!
monday's a mother.
xoxo.

friday's letters and iphone photo freedom.

if i could have a relationship with any day of the week it would be friday.
i love the feeling of running walking out of the office at 5o'clock and tasting pure freedom.
i sound like i'm leaving prison for the first time. but hey, sometimes it feels like it.
side note: i do love my job. don't let this fool you.

dear chicken in our yard:
you are seriously the sweetest chicken i have ever met. roommate and i are still trying to figure out why you left your home down the road and have decided to stay in our yard the past 3 nights. we're also trying to figure out how you haven't frozen to death outside.
anyways, we're thinking about just adopting you. i hope that's okay.
i'm naming you omelet if we do.

dear immune system:
what's the deal yo?
first strep throat and now some sinus crap. you need to check yo self.
and let me feel better, thanks.

dear weather:
i would much rather we get snow instead of ice.
i would also much rather we get spring instead of winter.
get to workin' on this, please?

dear WCU:
in my 4 years as a student you never ever, never ever ever,
cancelled class for bad weather... but you do today? that's just not fair.

andddd because my phone feels like it has so many secrets it needs to set free...
here ya go.
(if you follow me on instagram you've already fallen victim to my obsession with picture taking. sorry i'm not sorry)
1. an adorable niece play date all day sunday.
2. ballerina nieces showing me their skills.

1. saturday night out with the roommate.
2. a snuggly 3rd roommate, cordelia, stealing the blanket.
3. my new FAVORITE book. currently obsessed.
4. FINALLY getting around to cleaning my makeup brushes.
it's been an embarrassingly long time since they've had some love.
5. a random night out with the roommate.
6. a DZ family reunion saturday.

happy weekend, friends!
xoxo.

ripped pants and ballerinas.

today's been rough... to say the least.
woke up with a sore throat.
then body aches.
now i'm delusional and hyped up on some meds. just tryin' to get through work.

the best part about my day though?
i ripped my pants.
no lie. kid you not. ripped them babies.
obviously not on purpose and of course i didn't realize it had even happened.
no... got to work and from 8-11am didn't know i had a hole in the butt of my pants.
luckily i was wearing tights underneath. black tights that matched my black pants to be exact.
praise all things holy for that one.
and for it being cold enough outside to have an excuse for it.

i blame all of this on my dryer. because every single morning i throw my clothes in there so they are nice and warm when i put them on.
since this morning was extra cold out- like keep all yo' animals inside at night cold-
i put on some thick tights under my already thin black pants.
but my black pants just came out of the dryer... and they were baby small. not big girl's ass big like they should be.
so i did some lunges around the house. loosened 'em up. and proceeded on about my morning.
with a hole. in my ass. without me knowing.
awesome.

yeah, rough day so far.
do you wanna know what i do when i have a rough day?
i watch videos of my nieces dancing.
because they are too funny and put my in a ridiculously happy mood.
so you get to see them too.
because they're adorable. and cute. and rap better than i do.

keep in mind these only show 2 of my 4 nieces.
it's a mad house when they're all together.
xoxo.

random ramblings: dis and dat.

ok ya'll, THIS is what i'm currently dealing with.
some little bia named iago.
i can't figure out if iago is male or female. or where in the hell they came up with this name.
but that's neither here nor there.
i also can't decide if i want snow or not.
give me a few inches to sled, build a snow man, snuggle, and drink hot chocolate...
then it can melt (and fast).

i love the fact THAT i am becoming somewhat of a house wife.
i mean, not really, but kind of.
my stuffed peppers last night were ballin' though.

THIS tweet, might be my favorite of all time.
mainly because my roommate is convinced she will have an asian baby.
and i am convinced i will have a little kenyan baby.
no lie. it's gonna happen.

and lastly, can we get an Amen THAT monday is a holiday and i have a long weekend.
boo. freakin. yah.
very exciting!
xoxo.

and today, on the real wednesday, i'm pissed it's just now wednesday.

mother nature needs a prozac.
and i need to move on...

without sharing with you some of my recent favorite pins i will never know.
because obvi home girl's been online hoarding err damn day here lately.

and the thoughts of spring, changes, and new things has me all excited!

take it back tuesday (2).

here we go again ladies...
our second round of take it back tuesday!

here's what you do...
-write a post about your past
(share some fond memories of the good ol' days, funny stories, fashion trends, diary secrets, whatever you want)
-grab our button
-link-up
-visit my co-hosts ady and jennifer!
-meet new friends!
-oh and make sure you have your bottle glass of wine on hand.
sounds like fun right? all we ask is that you add our button or include a link-back to us.

lately i've been thinking a lot about how certain styles seem to fade out for a few decades years and then circle right back around and find their way back into our lives.
so today we're going to reminisce on some fashion trends from the 80s/90s
that have somehow or another reincarnated themselves in our closets.
granted, we've not completely lost our minds and gone to the extremes that we did back in the day...
but i have a feeling we're headed in that direction.
and if that happens ... let's just hope to God we've all already found our husbands and they love us dearly enough
not to judge us for our wrong doings in the closet.

culprit #1: bottle cap, plastic, (and sometimes neon) glasses.
because we all know that contacts are a hell of a lot easier and more attractive. the wayfarers are already donning a lot of pretty faces so let's just stick to those and not let these plastic neon bad boys back into our lives. please and thank you.

culprit #2: bangs and big hair.
you know, the bangs with the wings on the side and the extra hairspray to keep them rolled back on to the top of your head.
and the hair that could trap 50 bugs in it in a mile.
the bangs, or "fringe", are everywhere... again.
and don't get me wrong, i rocked some for about a year recently and loved 'em.
i also love me some big hair.
but ladies, there is a fine line...

culprit #3: multi colored leggings.
ahhh, leggings. i love em and my guess is so do you.
but if you bishes start wearing neon leggings. i may just scream.

culprit #4: parachute pants.
this i just don't get. and probably never will.
i guess because my butt and thighs are so big i would need something along the lines of a tarp...  not a parachute. but whatever.

what are some fashion trends you've noticed coming back around?
i would LOVE to hear what you've caught back in your closet!
xoxo.

finger lickin good weekend.

i cannot believe another weekend has come and gone.
seriously- walking into work this morning was rough. mainly because i feel like i JUST left the place!
whatever. nothing i can do about it.

this weekend was fun.
and the best part? hangover free!!
i mean, come on, home girl still had some good dranks.
but not to the point where i was hangover hannah the next day. it was so nice.

friday i went to dinner with friends at fat buddies.
it's finger lickin' good.
no really, that's what their sign says.
you can even get a shirt that says "i sucked bones at fat buddies." it's high class.
and obviously that's in reference to their ribs. get your minds outta the gutter.

saturday morning i got up and attended a "ripped" zumba class.
holy guacamole this girl is STILL sore from it.
30 minutes of hard core zumba and 30 minutes of weight training.
it was rough, but i will definitely be going back!

saturday night was spent in asheville with friends.
i got to see a number of sorority sisters that were also in town.
i was one happy girl to say the least.

sunday was my normal rest and relaxation day.
followed by a birthday dinner for my sweet, sweet momma bear!
she is my ultimate inspiration, ya'll. and as always- my number one fan.
Happy Birthday, Mom! i love you more than you know!

i hope everyone had a great weekend!
it's raining like crazy here.
unfortunately it's not raining men.
maybe in our dreams, right?

1.11.2013

friday sweets.

dear momma bear:
your birthday is sunday! ahhh!!
i cannot wait to see you and celebrate another year spent together! you have been my strength and inspiration my entire life and i cherish every day you're in my life. i love you!!

dear work:
you been cray cray here lately, do you realize that? if you'd like to calm down next week i would surely appreciate it. i am ready for a break and a beer. is it 5 yet?

dear life:
you're fixing to go through some major, major changes in this next year (that is if everything works out like i'm hoping it does).
let's just leave it all to God, what do ya say?

dear jennifer:
i love you, best friend.
i love our conversations and that we can sob to each other whenever it's necessary.
let's have a girl's night out soon, capeesh?

dear destiny's child:
are the rumors true? are you REALLY getting back together?
not gonna lie here... i love me some "no scrubs" because they can't get no love from me.
(PSA: TLC sang "no scrubs", not DC. i'm a blonde. but the girl i just mentioned above, jennifer, she saves my ass when it needs saving. so thank you best friend!) hahahaha.
and your matching outfits really inspire me. just kidding.
basically what i'm saying here is i'm pretty pumped.
so pumped i may or may not have just made you a pandora station to prepare.

have a wonderful weekend!
xoxo.

1.10.2013

today's happiness.

so i had a completely random post planned out for today.
a post that is not getting published for a few reasons.
one of which is because of an email i received from a coworker. a coworker that instead of just sending it via email decided to print it out for us as well. because you see, it's that good.

so instead of sharing my random post with you today, i'm going to share with you what her email said instead.
because like i already told you, it's that good.
and quite frankly, it's that appropriate.

steps to happiness today:

you can't be all things to all people.
you can't do all things at once.
you can't do all things equally well.
you can't do all things better than everyone else.
your humanity is showing, just like everyone else's.

so...
you have to find out who you are. and be that.
you have to decide what comes first. and do that.
you have to discover your strengths. and use them.
you have to learn not to compete or feel jealous of others-
because no one else is in the contest of being you.

then...
you will have learned to accept your own uniqueness.
you will have learned to set your own priorities and make decisions.
you will have learned to live with your own limitations.
you will have learned to give yourself the respect you deserve.
and, if you do, you will be a vital person.

dare to believe...
that you, as yourself, are a wonderful and unique person.
that you are a once in all history event.
that it is more than your right, but it is your duty to be who you are.
that life is not a daily problem to solve,
but a daily gift to cherish.

-anonymous

well maybe not anonymous, but i don't know who the original author is, so we're just gonna stick with anonymous on this one.
hope you enjoyed it as much as i did!
and just think... tomorrow is FRIDAY!
xoxo.

1.09.2013

a little primetime action.

can we just talk about how good of a week primetime television is having??
seriously ... Revenge, The Bachelor, Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game.
all back on this week. and all some of my absolute favorites.
okay, so maybe I'M the one having a really good week because of this and primetime tv is to blame.
whatever. i'm just happy about it.

here's a little bit of some primetime recap from a blonde's view of things.

i want this man.
daniel grayson, well, technically joshua bowman.
emily thorne/ vancamp is one lucky bish. did you know they're tv life and real life lovers?
again i say, one lucky bish.

so far tierra is my favorite.
via.
if sean doesn't show up on my doorstep with a single red rose at the end of this season i guess he can choose her.
and this opinion is likely to change.
give me until next week.

i want to be best friends with hanna, emily, aria, and spencer.
i do. i'm not gonna lie.
via.
but they can leave me out of A's games though, that's for sure.
oh and i'm still pissed about toby. down right pissed.

i want the girl's wardrobes on The Lying Game.
via.
i'm sorry but i did NOT dress like this in high school.
and at 25 i still don't really have the fashion sense that they do.
that goes for the cast of PLL as well.

all in all i'd say my couch sitting week nights just got a lot better.
and the wine doesn't hurt.
you go abc coco, you go.

1.07.2013

weekend at home.

i spent my weekend back in my home town visiting family and friends.
ok so, my hometown is only 45 minutes from where i am currently living so i know this isn't really a big deal... but it's still nice to come "home" whenever i feel like it.

friday night jennifer and i really showed our ages.
our japanese take out and movies had us both passing out on her couch.
at least i had her cute fur babies to snuggle up with :)

saturday i went over to my sister's casa for a painting party.
she has 4 little girls. yes 4.
whose rooms are basically the entire upstairs of their house.
since the two older sisters have outgrown the pink stage my sister decided to let them paint and re-decorate their rooms.
so that's what we did... all day.
painted. organized. moved furniture.
and tried to keep 1 year old sophia from making paint angels in the rolling pans.
yes that really did happen.
and check out the stairs leading up to their rooms...
it was somewhat difficult to successfully get a 1 yr old, 3 yr old, 5 yr old, and 8 yr old's handprints.
but we tried.
we even got some feetsie prints in the mix.

saturday night i ended up back at jennifer's.
that's pretty typical when i come home.
their guest bedroom might as well just be called julia's bedroom because i always end up staying there when i'm in town.

and sunday was spent convincing my papa bear to change my brake pads, writing an essay for my grad school application (you heard me- grad school application), and lounging in my pajamas.

overall good weekend.
like it always is.
now we're back to the grind!!
happy monday, friends!
xoxo

1.04.2013

friday's letters.

dear weekend:
i know i've only been at work 3 days this week but i am seriously ready for you.
maybe more than ever.

dear obama:
i never, ever post political things on this blog. however, today when i saw that 2% tax increase on my paycheck i almost had a heart attack. it may not seem like much to some... but trust me, in the long run that's quite a bit of money you're no longer bringing in every month. so thanks for that buddy.
just shows me why i never voted for you in the first place.

dear blog readers:
sorry if you're obama fans. i promise that was a one time shout out.
well... that is if the next 4 years goes okay.

dear california:
you have a special friend of mine back now and i'd appreciate it if you took good care of him.
tell him i loved my flowers i came home to yesterday by the way.

have a wonderful weekend, friends!
xoxo.

1.03.2013

i don't have resolutions, but i do have pictures.

i keep seeing all of these new years resolution posts about how everyone's getting in shape, becoming better people, saving the world, watching less tv, drinking less soda, blah blah blah.

we all have things we want to do better.
things we want to change.
and things we hope for our New Year.
the question is whether or not THIS YEAR we're actually going to act on those things.
and keep them going for once.
maybe you will, maybe you won't.

my wish for myself and for everyone is just to be happy. that's it.
doing whatever it is you're doing, however it is you're doing it.
just be happy being you.

and if by the end of 2013 you're a better person, you lost a little weight, you stopped drinking that soda pop,
and maybe you saved the world.
kudos to you, my friend. kudos to you!

so no, i'm not going to sit here and list out my "resolutions" for 2013.
instead i'm going to share with you the best of my 2012.
and hope for an even better 2013.

let's get started...

i moved in with one fabulous roommate.

i spent more time with my incredible, adorable nieces.

i had my heart broken... more than once.
sorry, no pictures for this one.

i went to 9, yes 9, weddings.
where i discovered my insane love for photo booths.

i said a heart-wrenching goodbye to my ava and found her a better home than i could have ever imagined.
and then i got to visit her and see just how happy she is now.

i had lots and lots of fun, girls nights.

i shot guns for the first time... twice.

i was on tv.
say yes to the dress: bridesmaids to be more specific.
that was an experience to say the least.

my family and i took a trip to charleston, sc...
one of my favorite places to visit.

i supported sun drop for halloween.

i got to spend another holiday season with my entire family.

and i spent an entire weekend away from everything at a walk to emmaus.
that might have been the highlight of it all to be quite honest here.

there are a lot more, but i don't have enough time for that.
ain't nobody got time for dat.
all in all i would say that 2012 was a great year.
and i'm excited to see what 2013 has in store!!

and that's my sappy new years post.
holla.
