i love letters. i love lamp.

i seriously don't know what i would do without weekends.
oh yes i do, i would go bat shit crazy.
i knew after i got in my car for lunch today and had to do a double take to make sure i was
in the right jeep that i was completely over this week.
i literally said to myself- dumbdumb, your key only opens YOUR door and only starts YOUR car. not the other 10 jeeps in the parking lot.
the worst part? this seriously happens more times than not.
early stages of dementia? i am turning 25. you never know, george, you never know.
moving on...

dear God-
shewwwie... thank you for getting me through work the last few months. things have been beyond hectic and i truly know i couldn't have made it without you. thank you for all of my amazing blessings.
dear greys-
(spoiler alert, be aware)
mr feenie is a surgeon? since when did that become okay? i'm really interested to see where you're taking us this season. first you killed lexi and now hott ass mark? what gives? i've been a faithful fan since before the days of izzy and you better not let me down. also- thank you for making me think arizona died. disaster averted though- it's only a nub.
dear 25-
yeah, that's right, this girl will be turning twenty-freaking-five years old next wednesday!! holy ball sacks where has time gone? i'm still somewhat in denial about this... so we're starting my birthday shenanigans this weekend and not stopping until the end of october.
so what?
dear weekend weather-
i'm beyond ready for fall, don't get me wrong, but i'd really like for you to pretend it's still summer just this one last weekend for my birthday. i'd like to be able to parade around downtown without getting cold. i know the alcohol will help with my cold chills, but homegirl's gotta rock her dress (without a coat). ka-peesh?
dear cupcakes-
what do you mean you aren't breakfast material? i'm sorry but when you're just sitting there in the hallway at work i can't help but assume you're wanting me to eat you. stop it.

go link up. she's a favorite. and she's gorgeous.

real life blog makeover.

something's looking a little different around here, huh?
yeah, that's right.
your girl broke down and got herself a real, legit, classy, blog design.
crazy, i know.

i tried making over le' blog on my own one time.
i was happy with it... but i didn't have a button. i didn't have pages. i didn't have social icons. i didn't have real stuff, ya know?
but i do now. booooom shaka laka.
so connect with me, find me, follow me, that kinda stuff.

if you have never met nicole from living with fletch... well, you're missing out.
homegirl done out did herself with my blog design.
i told her i wanted something a little girly, a little modern, a little simple, and a lotta classy.
and BOOM. here we are.
happy blondie.
what do you think?
oh and excuse my blurry picture at the top- we're working on it.

i don't know how anyone ever planned a wedding, had a kid, took pictures, decorated a home, dressed themselves, or even cooked for themselves before this website. it's a good darn thing that i hadn't done any of the above before now... yeah, even the cooking. but i'm learning, planning, and crafting like a pro these days. pshh, thanks pinterest.

a vintage wedding and a 1930s toilet.

that's right. a toilet from the 1930s. or some other era... i'm really unsure at this point.

you see, my friend sara got married this past saturday to her precious beau, tyler. this was the 9th... you heard me, 9th wedding since january, that i have attended. i feel like i have this whole wedding guest thing down pat at this point. and i'm pretty sure if i ever get married (big fat IF) then i will know exactly how it's done. or at least i ought to.

anyways.
sara and tyler...
two people with such old souls, beautiful hearts, and great love for one another... tied the knot on saturday. everything was gorgeous, everything was vintage, and everything was handmade.
however, the best part about the wedding?
they announced to all of their family and friends that they are having a baby GIRL at the first of the year!!! so exciting!
to them i say congratulations- a hundred times congratulations!!

we had a wonderful night celebrating their love.
i had one good lookin' wedding date.

i found a 1930's toilet that you had to pull a cord to flush.

i got to see an old college friend, and neighbor. miss you DJ!!

and thennnn i passed out in jenn's living room, along with everyone else.

more fun was had over the weekend, naturally, but this was definitely the best part.
now let's just make it past monday.
xoxo.

iBelieve...

I kind of feel like I should be giving a speech right now. Ya know, one similar to MLK's "I Have A Dream" ... but entirely different. I'm not trying to make history with this... just tryin to link up with Erin and share what I believe in. She's pretty great by the way, this Erin, you should check her out.

I believe that nothing should ever come before God, and our relationship with Him is the only thing we will ever need.

I believe that every girl is a princess.

I believe in music... and dancing whenever the opportunity arises, especially if The Wobble comes on.

I believe in honesty.

I believe in the idea that you can never be over dressed or over educated.

I believe in always standing up for who you are.

I believe in never having regrets.

I believe in the "hand on hip, skinny arm" pose, duh.

I believe in pictures. you can never take too many and they provide the best memories.

I believe in wine. I believe even more in good, local brewskies.

I believe in feeling good and loving your own body.

I believe...
I believe in bubble baths, and wine, and fifty shades of grey- combined.

I believe in long hurr, don't care.

I believe that all children are life's biggest blessing, especially my nieces.

I believe that my sister and her hus-bun are super heroes for raising those 4 little girls.

I believe in yoga pants being a staple clothing item.

I believe in the Hemsworth brothers.

I believe in myself.

I believe in laughing until your entire body hurts.

I believe in being with the person who makes you laugh.

I believe in Fall being the best time of the year.

I believe that you should do whatever it is that makes you happy, and we have complete control over making that happen.

I believe that you should never pass up an opportunity to do keg stands. Even if it means stealing your best friend's boxers because you're in a dress.

I believe that everything happens for a reason and if its meant to be... it will always work out.

rainy day (encouraging) blues.

i need desperately to be back in my bed right now. and i mean desperately. it's been raining heavily since last night here in the mountains and all i want to do is cuddle up underneath my covers and fall back asleep.
ahhhh, that would be nice.
but no, that's so not happening.
instead i'm sitting at work trying to make it to 5o'clock without having an anxiety attack. because you see, i hate storms. hate em'. with a passion. for some reason they make me so incredibly nervous it is ridiculous. and driving in them? yeah, you can forget about that.
so i'm just going to sit my happy tired butt at my desk until i absolutely have to go somewhere, which will be home as soon as i can and into my cave i call a bedroom.

anywho...
we are saying goodbye to a coworker this week. she is retiring from the Department of Social Services and moving on to her next journey in life. she's helped so many people and has done so much in her short time here on earth that it really makes me stop and think about what i've done and how much more i want to do with my life- not only for myself, but for others... and for God.
i just have to figure out what exactly that is and how i want to go about doing it. i will tell you that it's going to take a whole lot of prayers and an open heart, but i will continue to do just that.
i get so incredibly excited thinking about all of the countless opportunities that we have in this world to do good. why not take advantage of that? why not put your whole heart into helping others?
i could go on for days about this, but i won't.
my social working side tends to come out on occasion around here.
just remember- it is the smallest things that mean the most... and we each have an opportunity to make a difference in our lives and the lives of those around us.

tell me, what is it that you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

bomb threat.

wanna wake up on a monday morning?
try traveling to work and finding out that the high school across the street from you is under a bomb threat. that's comforting.
it's even more comforting to find out that this isn't exactly unusual.
i spent the majority of my morning getting my windshield fixed in the parking lot (thanks to two rocks that decided to jump off the highway and hit my car)... so the bomb traffic was quite entertaining... and a little scary.
thankfully the person who made the bomb threat was just a little kid wanting to get out of going to school today. because naturally when i don't want to go somewhere i make bomb threats too,
oh wait.
and i feel slightly uncomfortable saying bomb so many times. bomb. bomb. bomb.

moving on.
this weekend was one of many firsts.

i rode a chair lift for the first time, ever... weird, right? i know. i'm a pansy when it comes to heights. but i wanted to ride at least one ride friday night at the fair and this seemed like the safest.
he's a cutie- i am fully aware ;)

saturday, instead of taking the highway back home from asheville we took the blue ridge parkway the entire way back. living in the mountains of NC i have been on the parkway numerous times, but i had never driven the whole stretch from asheville home. let me just tell you- it's breathtaking. we even stopped halfway and hiked up to the "devil's courthouse."
it was one of the best saturdays in a long time.
please excuse the no shower, hat hair. fox racing? not exactly my go-to hobby.

sunday was a lazy day, but that's nothing new. lots of movies were watched and lots of food was consumed. by the way- if you haven't seen the movie think like a man, you are missing out.
shit is hilarious!!

hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!
oh and go wish my real life bestie and fellow blog blondie, jennifer, a happy one year wedding anniversary!! i love these two more than i could ever put into words!
xoxo

letters, typical, but necessary.

Photobucket

dear God-
i can see you are testing me more than you have in a while... in relationships, life, my career, etc. and although i know you are just pushing me towards the will in which you have set forth for my life, i pray for more guidance and understanding. work has been rough, really rough, with the cases that we've had and i just ask that you watch over all of the children and elderly that we deal with on a daily basis. they need it.

dear everyone and their mom-
we've all been affected by cancer in one way or another. it's just a fact of life. a sad, hurtful, destructive fact of life. i encourage you all to hop over to brie's blog for a moment and read about her story, her dad's story, maya's story, and ronan's story. then, go to itunes and download ronan by taylor swift... yes, tay sway herself wrote a song for ronan, the 3 year old angel who died of cancer in may of 2011. you can read the blog that maya, his mother, writes to him on a daily basis while he looks down from heaven, at rockstar ronan. get your tissues ready though... stand up, join together, and make a difference, ya'll.

dear fall weather-
you are incredible. i love my boots, my flannel, my scarves, my pumpkin beer, and my chilly nights with bonfires. please stay longer this year?

dear friday-
please end well. and preferably with a nice big frozen marg waiting for me when i get home. it's been a rough one already, so let's get this over with, shall we?

dear readers-
sorry these letters aren't the happiest they've been. home girl will be back to normal once she gets off of work and a nice tall drink in her.

9.10.2012

oh look, another weekend update.

this weekend i....

had dinner with my best friend, stephanie. she's all married and stuff now so i have to give her weekly updates on all of my ridiculous dating stories. i keep her on her toes.

i rode in a monster truck to the mountain state fair.
okay so not really a monster truck... but close. this 5'4" little girl did have to be pulled into it though. i have to say that being eye level to tractor trailer drivers is pretty sweet.

we got all the way to the fair and realized that all of the ticket booths were closed. but that's what happens when you show up at midnight apparently. so all we got out of it was funnel cakes and creepy carni stares.

i spent the day shopping with my mom and brother on saturday.
somehow my brother ended up tricking me into buying him a shirt that said
"i'm good in bed- i can sleep for hours".
he's 15.
my mom was pissed because she'd told him no but then left the store for a phone call
and i just can't say no to him, ever.
sneaky little rascal he is.

sunday my roommate and i convinced our friend heath to mow our grass. we tanned supervised, obviously. and i realized i have a rather large behind.

that night we cooked a ballin' dinner for ourselves and our friends. i'm tellin ya, this domestication thing is going pretty well. paula dean you might wanna step out of the way.

hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!
head over to sami's lovely blog and fill us in on what you did!!
