yesterday and today should probably go ahead and be switched around.
because for a monday, yesterday was fairly decent.
as for today... not so much.
it's 10am and i have already...
ran in the rain to meet the trash pickup (can't be having any smelly trash for another week).
killed an ugly ass spider in my car (let's just take a moment and be thankful i found this before i started driving).
and sat in the doctor's office for pink eye. that's right pink eye.
the good thing is i have caught it in time and i'm hopefully going to be rid of it before tomorrow... which is my birthday.
if it's not gone then i will probably pitch the world's biggest toddler fit.
crown, ruffles, and all.
crown, ruffles, and all.
toddlers & tiaras better watch out. my crown is waiting.
now i know all of my complaints just then were actually petty little things compared to the big problems in the world today. i thank God daily that these are the only things i have to worry about right now and for all of my amazing blessings.
there are people, children mainly, who are going through far worse things than pink eye on their birthday. there are children who are being bullied so badly by their peers that they think their only way out is to kill themselves.
it's absolutely heart breaking.
yesterday my 15 year old brother told me that his classmate hung himself in the band room at the high school
because he was tired of being bullied.
because he was tired of being bullied.
15 years old.
a baby.
i couldn't help but sit down, cry, and start praying.
this little boy was so down on himself because of words from his peers that he took his own life to escape it.
it makes me wonder how long he actually endured this kind of treatment.
this morning my brother sent me this picture.
and while it gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes to see this many of his classmates gathered around
praying for the boy who was bullied...
it makes me wonder at the same time where these kids were while all of this was going on and why nobody came together to stop it?
i pray that the bullies in his school realize what they have done and something changes for the other students of franklin high.
because it scares me for my brother.
he has such a kind heart, he's a quiet kid, and he is one of the good guys. i know he is. we're close.
i have seen him with his friends and in his element.
my brother was home schooled for years before being put in public school and i know some of the criticism that comes along with that. God help me if i ever heard my brother was being bullied. it has my blood boiling. and he knows that.
he knows big sister will come kick some ass.

i know we hear these things on a regular basis... but that's just it. we hear it on a regular basis, people.
it's become far too often that this sort of thing happens.
we should be teaching our children, our nieces and nephews, our students, and our friends to love one another. to be nice and understanding to one another.
how hard is that? how hard is it to love other people?
how hard is it to stop being mean, hateful, and a bully?
all i ask is that you start being nice to one another.
in school, the workplace, and even here in blog land. stand up for yourself, stand up for others, and just be nice damnit.
and take a moment, right now, to say a prayer for all of our children that are being affected by bullies every day.
they need our love and support.

I cannot imagine what that boy's parents are feeling right now. How awful for everyone involved . . . so sad that it takes something so tragic for young people to stop and think about how they're treating other people.
ReplyDeletethis was so heartbreaking to read, but i'm so glad you shared it. it breaks my heart when i hear about people being bullied. it makes me scared to have kids that will have to go to school one day because i don't want them to be bullied, or be the bully. i wish everyone would just be nice to each other.

Ugh this is so sad. How horrible must it feel to be put down on a daily basis that you feel like you need to take your own life to escape the pain? I can't imagine. It breaks my heart. It makes me so mad when I hear adults putting others down because that is where the younger generation is learning it from! We need to teach our children to respect eachother no matter how different we are. Bullying disgusts me.
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad :( I will absolutely be praying for this boy and his family. It's really awful how the competitive nature in us turns into bullying at an age where we are so fragile and vulnerable. We need to spread the love, because it really goes a long way.
ReplyDeleteAlso praying for you eye!! I have the worst luck with pink eye, it's so not fun! But hoping you have a quick recovery so that you can have an amazing birthday!! Even though I'm sure you'll have one either way :)
That is so terrible. I wish I could just hug all of these sweet kids who are bullied.
ReplyDeletePS, cute new blog design! love it
Wow. That is absolutely awful. I don't think kids realize how much damage their words can too. I cannot imagine what must have been going through that boys mind and the extreme pain that he felt by others' harsh words.
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely heart-breaking. I'm with you, the picture is touching in a way, but why oh why did that have to happen? Praying for sure. Bullying is so ridiculously stupid.
